Amateur Radio License Exams

STARS offers Amateur Radio License Exams at its Volunteer Examiner Testing sessions. Please check www.arrl.org/arrlvec for the most current schedule of VE Testing sessions.

VE Testing Sessions are generally held on the 4th Saturday of each month. Please check the actual schedule as these dates can shift to accomodate holidays or special events. The testing sessions start at 9:00 AM. Please try your best to be early to avoid disturbing others that are taking tests. Walk-ins are accepted until 10:30 AM. Testing is held at the Midlothian Village Hall Community Room. Located at 14801 S Pulaski RD, Midlothian, IL 60445. Near the base of their antenna tower.

You must bring a drivers license, state ID card, student ID card, or other suitable form of picture ID. The fee for taking the exam is $14 cash. No checks, credit cards, or other forms of payment are acceptable.

Relax, if you are taking your very first Amateur Radio Technician License Examination. Get a good night sleep and eat a good breakfast. You will do just fine.

We will provide blank paper for you to use as scratch paper and collect it from you when you have completed your test. You can bring a calculator if you really think you need one, but you can not have any programmed formulas in it. Which for a Technicians class exam a simple four function calculator is all you could possibly need. Write out a set of notes for yourself to review the morning of the test.

If you have a current valid Amateur Radio Station License and are upgrading to a new Amateur Radio License Class, please remember to bring your original and one copy of your current amateur radio station license, as well as your original and one copy of any certificate(s) of successfull completion of examination (CSCE) showing the credit you have for any examination ellements you passed.

If you have any questions about the VE Testing Sessions or Amateur Radio Licensing, please feel free to contact Tom Antolak by phone at (708)229-0420 or email him at w9src@arrl.net.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Our Technician class produced 12 new Technicians and 4 new Generals.

Thanks to those that assisted in making this event a success.
